Non-musical history for today: 1972 – The Games of the XX Olympiad opened in Munich, West Germany. The event was overshadowed by the "Munich Massacre" in the second week. Eleven Israeli athletes and coaches and one West German police officer at the Olympic Village were killed by Palestinian Black September members. The motivation for the attack was the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli conflict. I'm surprised something like that didn't happen this year. Except over stupid comparisons to The Last Supper and whether or not a female was actually a female. This, on top of the atrocities that are going on between Israel and Palestine today.
Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for August 26.
Recorded in the Omniverus Podcast Studios at Liberty Plaza.
