Non-musical history for today: 1896—Anglo-Zanzibar War: The shortest recorded war in world history between the United Kingdom and Zanzibar started around 9:02 a.m. and lasted until about 9:40 a.m. The Brits didn't like who the Zanzabari leaders were going to install as Sultan. Oh yeah!? Oh yeah!? I can hear them say. One British soldier died. An estimated 500 (including civilians) were killed or wounded. The British had around 1,050 soldiers on land and two cruisers and three gunboats in the sea. The Zanzabari had 2,800 soldiers on land, four artillery pieces, one shore battery, the HHS Glasgow (the Sultan's royal yacht), and two boats. They lost the shore battery and the HSS Glasgow was sunk. Pointless.
