Non-musical history for today: 1922 – The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) was formed. The list of countries going in is confusing and somewhat convoluted, but here are the countries that came out of it in 1990 and 1991: Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Russia, and Kazakhstan. Some believe that Putin is trying to reassemble the USSR, at least in some capacity.
