Non-musical history for today: 1927 – U.S. President Calvin Coolidge signed a bill by Congress establishing the Federal Radio Commission (later replaced by the Federal Communications Commission), which was to regulate the use of radio frequencies in the United States. That would have been great if they had just stuck with that purpose. Radio frequencies running amok is one thing we can’t allow. But then, enter the FCC, and ignorance ensues. Appointed, not elected, they have an awful (really) lot of power and say. I call the FCC Fascist Controlling Communists.
Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for February 23.
Recorded in the Omniverus Podcast Studios at Liberty Plaza.
