Non-musical history for today: 1870 – The current flag of Japan was first adopted as the national flag for Japanese merchant ships. I think it is one of the cleanest flags out there. It’s not busy. It’s not cluttered. It’s a red dot. Yes, it represents the sun, but it is sleek.
