Non-musical history for today:  1990 – the merger of Time Inc. and Warner Communications formed Time Warner. Time had announced the merger in March of 1989. Gulf+Western tried to force a hostile buyout of Time, Inc. to keep it from happening, and then Time, Inc. raised its price to $14.9B. G+W (who went on to become Paramount Pictures Corp.) sued to keep the merger from happening. The courts ruled - twice - in Time, Inc.'s favor, and G+W was forced to drop both the takeover bid and the lawsuit.
