Non-musical history for today: 1915 – An act of Congress created the United States Coast Guard as a branch of the United States Armed Forces. Unlike its sibling, the US Marines, it isn't automatically under the command of the US Navy. During peacetime (or non-wartime), it is administered by the Department of Homeland Security (which is a BS department, by the way), but an act of Congress or direction of the President, the USCG can be the charge of the Navy or Department of Defense.
Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for January 28.
Recorded in the Omniverus Podcast Studios at Liberty Plaza.
