Non-musical history for today: 1610 – Galileo Galilei made his first observation of the four Galilean moons: Ganymede, Callisto, Io, and Europa, although he could not distinguish the last two until the following night. The Galilean moons, if you didn't know, are the moons of Jupiter. Ganymede is larger than Mercury and Callisto is about the same size as Mercury. My question is, if Ganymede is bigger than, is the only reason it isn't its own planet because of the proximity to Jupiter?
Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for January 7.
