Non-musical history for today: 1881 – American outlaw Billy the Kid was shot and killed by Sheriff Pat Garrett in the Maxwell House at Fort Sumner, New Mexico. Wait… he was shot whilst drinking coffee? I “kid!”  During the decades following his death, legends grew that BtK had survived, and several men claimed to be him. Billy the Kid remains one of the most notorious figures from the era, whose life and likeness have been frequently dramatized in Western popular culture.
