Non-musical history for today: 4 – Augustus adopts Tiberius. Now, the thing to know is that Tiberius was in his 40s when this happened. And that may sound odd, but Livia Drusilla, his mother, divorced his father, Tiberius Claudius Nero, and married Augustus. Augustus’ two heirs, his grandsons Gaius and Lucius Caesar, had died mysteriously, so he adopted Tiberius as his successor. Clear, now? I hope so.
