Non-musical history for today: 1868 – Japanese samurai kill 11 French sailors in the port of Sakai, Osaka. The samurai were disbanded in 1870 and designated to the Shizoku (a distinct class between the kazoku and heimin (commoners) with no special class privileges). The title was solely on the register. The Shizoku were abolished in the revised civil code in 1947 after the Japanese defeat in World War II.

Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for March 8.

Recorded in the Omniverus Podcast Studios at Liberty Plaza.
