Non-musical history for today: 1938 – In the United States, the House Un-American Activities Committee began its first session. This led to many Hollywood stars being “blacklisted” for ties to communism. Some, like Charlie Chaplin, Orson Welles, Alan Lomax, Paul Robeson, and Yip Harburg, left the U.S. or went underground to find work. Some screenwriters and authors wrote under pseudonyms. It was yet another stupid time in our country. We have a lot of those.

Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for May 26.

Recorded in the Omniverus Podcast Studios at Liberty Plaza.
