Non-musical history for today: 1903 – Baseball: The Boston Americans played the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first game of the modern World Series. 43 years and 364 days before the first televised World Series (see yesterday's history), the FIRST World Series featured my favorite team, the Pittsburgh Pirates, against the Boston Americans (who went on to become the Boston Red Sox). The Americans won the series 5-3 (it was a best-of-nine series), winning the final four games in a row.
