Non-musical history for today: 2022 – The death of Mahsa Amini occurred, which sparked worldwide protests. Amini refused to wear the hijab that was compulsory in Iranian law. She was reportedly (or allegedly) beaten whilst in prison, and this is thought to have led to her death. Protests sparked worldwide, and the Women, Life, Freedom movement started as a result.
