Non-musical history for today: 301 – San Marino, one of the smallest nations in the world and the world’s oldest republic still in existence, was founded by Saint Marinus. If you don’t know where it is, it’s a landlocked enclave country located INSIDE Italy. Italy is the only country in the world with TWO enclaves within its borders. South Africa has Lesotho within its borders, and I thought Eswatini was one, but it’s actually on the border between South Africa and Mozambique, similar to Andorra, Liechtenstein, and other small countries. And Monaco isn’t “inside” France. I love geography and national (not USA) histories.
