Sedan 1800-talet har jordens befolkning ökat explosionsartat, det har gjort att många pratat om att jorden är överbefolkad. Men senaste decennierna pekar trenden mot att jordens befolkning snart kommer peaka och därefter minska. En positiv utveckling enligt vissa, men andra menar att konsekvenserna med färre människor på jorden är ett större hot än klimatförändringarna.

Historiskt är det svält, krig och sjukdomar som hållit nere jordens befolkning. Men nu beror det istället på att vi slutat föda barn. Vad är det som har hänt?
