“Before I Die” Topic 3: What is True Success?
One of the things that I’ve learned in life is just because you’re professionally successful doesn’t mean that you’re personally successful. Sometimes overcoming our personal issues such as addictions, marital problems, and family problems takes a toll on us. These issues can affect our professional lives. It is very important that we take care of our personal self. I have been a very emotional creature and if we don’t find ways to control our emotions we can find ourselves in any kind of situation. These situations can happen at any given time, and may not be positive for us. Without emotional control we can let our issues spill over into our lives (personal or professional) and we don’t know how to react because we didn’t want people to know those things about us.
There is an old saying that goes “What’s done in dark will come to the light”. Many of us don’t want others to know our secrets or worse if we are in trouble. I am the same. There is a fine line about privacy. However it is sometimes not as simple as just trying to keep it together. Everyone has something that they are trying to hide or trying to deal with personally.
In order to maintain balance you want to see help. There are many options such as counseling, support groups, and simply confiding in a trusted confidant. These groups are there to listen and to you work through your issues. The most important thing is to not allow yourself to stay in situations that will be detrimental to you in the long run. When we don’t get help you and your issues will be exposed. It’s better to seek help, and to work through your issues before they affect your life in a negative way....
