Before the Beginning

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

— John 1 verse 1.

Before anything existed — before the earth, the sky, light, animals, or humans — Jesus already was. John doesn’t start his Gospel with the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem or His baptism in the Jordan. He goes back further — beyond time itself — to show us something essential: Jesus didn’t just show up in history. He’s always been there. He is eternal.

The Word — the Logos, as the Greek says — is how God chose to reveal Himself. Not through thunder or secret codes, but through a Person. This Person was with God in deep, eternal communion. And more than that, He was God.

Jesus isn’t just a prophet, a wise teacher, or a moral example. He is God. And that changes everything. What He says carries eternal weight. What He does has creative power. What He feels for you has divine depth.

It’s incredible to think that the One who had no beginning chose to step into time. The eternal Word, who was with God before anything began, came to live among us — and gave His life for us. Not out of obligation, but out of love.

So when you feel alone, lost, or too small in this big world, remember: you are seen and loved by the One who is bigger than time, bigger than the universe — the One who was, who was with God, and who is God.

That’s the Jesus who walks beside you today. Eternal. Unchanging. God made close.
