Before the Sun Rises

“In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.” - Psalm 5:3.

In the morning. Before everything begins. Before the messages, the pressure, the noise, the distractions. That’s when David speaks to God. He doesn’t wait for the day to get heavy before praying — he starts by placing everything on the altar.

The verse says, “I lay my requests before you,” and in Hebrew, it literally means “to set in order.” Like preparing the wood for a sacrifice or arranging the bread on the table before the Lord. In other words, David doesn’t come to God carelessly. He comes thoughtfully, laying his life in order before the Creator.

And then… he waits. He watches. He expects God to move. He doesn’t rush out to fix everything on his own strength. He hands it over and waits in trust.

Now think about this: how do you start your day? Most people wake up with their minds already full — work, studies, stress, notifications, fears about the future. But when we push God to the side, the chaos comes first.

David understood something powerful: if he didn’t talk to God in the morning, the noise of the world would drown out God’s voice the rest of the day. That’s why he prayed early. He knew prayer isn’t just asking for things — it’s aligning your heart before facing life’s battles.

God is still waiting to hear your voice in the morning. He wants to be the first to hear your heart, not the last one after the day has drained you.

So tomorrow, before any notification, silence the world and speak with your Father.

Tell Him what worries you, what hurts you, what you dream of. And then — wait. Watch. Because He listens, and He answers.

Today, make a simple but powerful choice: start your days with God. Even if it’s just five minutes, make them the first five. Surrender your day, your struggle, your heart. Then watch what happens when the Creator becomes the first voice you speak to each morning.
