If your traveling alone or even as part of a group, getting lost is not an uncommon event especially when your exploring a new city for the first time. The need ask for directions back to your hotel or to a restaurant may not be so uncommon understanding the instructions may be a different matter. As part of the current Chinese education system most Chinese will have a basic understanding of the English language all you have to do is ask.
