John 14:25-27; 16:33
Isaiah 9:2-7
It is advent season! This time of eager anticipation as we approach Christmas. God has come to humanity as the baby Jesus. This is the beginning of something BIG. It is the beginning of the story though, and not the climax. A beginning holds many expectations and mysteries of what is yet to come. The birth of Jesus has already challenged the assumptions about God's Messiah. Something is beginning in a way that no one expected.
Isaiah's prophecy of the Messiah says that he will be called the Prince of Peace. Peace is something most of us want more of in our lives. It can be something we work at striving towards because we know it is good. Striving for peace will not ultimately satisfy because we find that Peace is God's initiative and rooted in His presence.
Peace is more than just the absence of conflict; it is the presence of God.
