Today, we’re talking about a song that shifted my perspective and became a lifeline: Beyoncé’s “Bigger.” Let’s unpack what it means to live for more than just survival.
Thrivin -over- Survivin
This fall, I found myself back in a moment I’ve been trying to leave behind—the grind of doing it all while forgetting who I truly am. But then, a line from Beyoncé’s “Bigger” hit me like a wave: “Life is your birthright. They hid that in the fine print.”
It reminded me that my life isn’t just about surviving—it’s about thriving. For years, I let the weight of motherhood and societal expectations cloud my vision. But now? I’m PROUDLY reclaiming my joy, my identity, and my purpose. Some days its glamorous but most are no different than you. Self, kids, work, home & gym then repeat. Although my pallet has definitely changed since divorce music continues to be my saving grace.
Nurturing Self: Beyond Motherhood
Music has always been therapy for me, a way to reconnect with my soul. In full transparency after my first move to NJ and the pandemic music was less of a focus. Yet during the darkest times I was able to call in what I needed to fight the strengthening tide. Bigger by Beyoncé became my anthem, blasting through the car speakers while I sobbed on drives, reminding me that I am part of something so much greater.
I am forced to remember this life isn’t just about me; it’s about my kids, my ancestors, and the legacy I want to leave behind. Listening to this song on repeat wasn’t just an act of survival—it was an act of resistance, a way to honor the woman I was and the Empress in bloom.
Moment of Joy: A Shift in the Mirror
When my oldest daughter recently told me, “Mom, you look happy now,” it shook me. For years, she saw the hard-working, often sad, survival-mode version of me. Now, she’s starting to see a mom who smiles more, laughs louder, and walks taller.
That moment reaffirmed why I’m doing this work—not just for myself but to show my kids what joy and resilience look like. It’s never too late to rewrite your story.

Crowned and Grounded: Reflection Prompts
Life is a constant evolution, and motherhood adds its own layers of growth and transformation. Take a moment to pause and ask yourself:
• What’s one area of your life where you can embrace being more than enough?
• How can you rewrite your story to reflect the love, joy, and abundance you truly deserve?
• What small but meaningful act can you take today to reclaim your energy and refocus on your dreams?
• Which of your past experiences has shaped the resilient, thriving woman you are today?
• What does living a life bigger than survival mean to you?
I love this last one. For me living bigger than survival is now transitioning from outward care to more inner work. Therapy, self study of the feminine flow as mentioned in the Empress Monologues #3, shadow work.
Heres another one from the community!
Remember, these reflections aren’t just questions—they’re invitations to honor your power, your progress, and the limitless possibilities ahead. Let them guide you toward showing up as the bold, radiant Empress you are. 🌟
