"Behind the curve," NY lawmakers pencil $40M toward census

In their budget proposals, New York lawmakers have agreed to spend $40 million dollars to help with the 2020 Census. The spending aims to make sure all New Yorkers are counted and the state receives adequate federal funding. The money would be spent on marketing, and also door-to-door canvassing by community organizations to persuade New Yorkers who may be mistrustful of government.
