John Ewing is a Hollywood Director of Photography and Colorist. In this episode, John talks to Ravi about life behind the lens, how to operate real cameras, the future of technologies like AR/VR, his artistic heroes, what it's like to work on hit shows like Pawn Stars and Jay Leno's Garage, and the cultural explosion of video.

After nearly 20 years he's worked in a wide variety of the trades one finds on a motion picture set including as a grip and set lighting technician. He eventually got into camera assisting, operating, and finally director of photography. In addition to cinematography, he's become interested in color grading and other forms of post-image processing.
