On this week’s Behind The Message with Daniel & Jennifer, the conversation continues from the weekend’s sermon on Habakkuk. Jennifer Laughrun, Pastor Mike Laughrun, and Pastor Daniel Broyles discuss the faith of Habakkuk and explore the “how to’s” of enduring by faith in the midst of uncertain times.
Big Truth: The righteous live by faith.
Big Ideas:
Discuss Habakkuk’s two complaints from chapter 1….first, his criticism of God’s inactivity (Habakkuk 1:1-4) and second, his criticism of God’s chosen activity (Habakkuk 1:12-17). What are the underlying challenges Habukkuk (and we) face in understanding the “whys” behind God’s chosen actions in these passages (and in our own lives)? How can Habakkuk (or we) overcome these challenges
Jennifer, Pastor Mike, & Pastor Daniel discussed three ways we can react to uncertain times…discuss the three ways and identify which one is your typical response to uncertain times.
Deny the reality of the situation
Discuss the three Big Ideas. (see list above)
Share with your Discussion Group the Big Idea most difficult for you to put into practice.
Commit to rely on the Holy Spirit and personally work on that one Big Idea this week. Ask your group members to suggest practical ways that could help you to build your “spiritual muscle” in this one area…
By faith, personally pray through Habakkuk 3:16-19. Even if right now your faith does not match Habakkuk’s confident declaration of faith in these verses, ask God to give you this kind of faith.
