BEHOLD HE COMES (JESUS’ RETURN TO EARTH)

"Behold, He comes" As we anticipate Jesus Christ's return to earth, it evokes a sense of hope and expectancy, reminding believers of the promises made in Scripture.  I will look at The Anticipation of His coming, Preparation and Readiness, Hope and Redemption, Encouragement to persevere, and Joy and Celebration.

1. Anticipation of His Coming

• Revelation 22:12: "Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done."
   
  • So this verse highlights the certainty and imminence of Christ's return, encouraging us to live faithfully and expectantly.

2. Preparation and Readiness – We must be ready- We must be prepared

• Matthew 24:44: "So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him."
   
  • Jesus emphasizes the importance of being prepared and vigilant, living in a way that reflects our readiness for His return.

3. Hope and Redemption (What a blessed hope)

• 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17: "For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so, we will be with the Lord forever."
   
  • So this offers a vivid image of the joyous reunion and redemption that believers will experience at Christ's coming, providing hope and comfort. 

4. Encouragement to Persevere

• James 5:8: "You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near."
   
  • In the midst of trials and challenges in this world, this verse encourages believers to remain steadfast and patient, trusting that Christ’s return is imminent and will bring ultimate justice and restoration.

5. Joy and Celebration (what a joy and celebration that will be)

• Revelation 19:6: "Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: ‘Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns.’"
   
  • The return of Christ will be a time of immense joy and celebration as God’s reign is fully established and His promises fulfilled.

So as we reflect on these scriptures and the anticipation of Christ's return, let them inspire you to live with hope, readiness, and joy, knowing that He is coming again to set all things right.

Let us pray,

Heavenly Father,

We stand in awe of Your promises and eagerly await the glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ. Help us to live in readiness and anticipation, remaining steadfast in faith and hope. May Your Spirit strengthen us to persevere through trials and encourage us with the assurance of Your imminent coming. As we look forward to that joyous day, fill our hearts with peace, joy, and unwavering trust in Your perfect plan.
