Here in Mark 14:12–21, we see Jesus presented as both the sacrificial Passover Lamb, and the sovereign Son of Man, whose betrayal by Judas fulfills divine prophecy while demonstrating God's ultimate triumph over evil. Through the preparation of the Passover meal, we see Jesus' divine control and foreknowledge, teaching us that His death was not an accident but the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy. The betrayal by Judas is both a tragic act of human responsibility as well as a necessary part of God's sovereign plan.
