So many men have given up their power to choose, thinking that this is the only path. They get stuck in the “I have to’s”, whether it’s about the expectations of society and their family or their expectations of themselves. When this happens, they end up letting life happen to them instead of taking control.
The problem is, most men are clueless about how they can take control. Most of the time, there is a lack of an elder or a mentor who gives proper guidance as men find their way through life. Even our own fathers were, at many times, just winging it.
Bryan realized early on that this was not the life he wanted. He didn’t like the feeling of thinking that he had no other choice. He knew that to truly feel alive, he had to step into his power and make better choices instead of merely letting life pass him by. He didn’t want to go back to how life was when he fell deep into the victim mindset where he thought life was just out to get him. He was numb, emotionless, and dead inside.
In this episode, Bryan talks about how to pivot from being a victim and sacrificing his own happiness to being a creator who is capable of building meaningful relationships and having a thriving life.
“It’s the plight of many men in our generation. Our fathers, well-intentioned though they were, had no clue what they were doing.” - Bryan Reeves
