Yaffy Newman, a veteran of the podcast world, speaks to me about her Aliyah experience as a Black and Latina Jew.
Born and raised in Hollywood, Florida Yaffy opens up about what it was like to grow up as a black woman in a tight knit Jewish community in the U.S. and how that experience was different after moving to Israel.
Our conversation expanded my understanding of what it’s like to be a minority of a minority. Are we supposed to be completely color-blind or should we see color? We discuss this among other fascinating and eye-opening topics.
This episode will open your mind and heart to Israel, the experience of Jewish minorities, and to the fact that Israel is a melting pot of Jews from all backgrounds and colors. In Israel, as in every other place in the world, a Jew is a Jew is a Jew.
