Names bring Identity, Power, and Authority

Names have meaning and significance. Why do you think people praise the name of people they like versus coming up with ways of disparaging people they don’t as in #FJB?

There are naming conventions that can be based on culture, clan, or tribe, for example.

Also, First Names can be used to declare allegiance, or glorify nature, indicate a characteristic or trait, or align with religion

For example,  Sean could be for an Irish family, Rose the flower, Philip for the Bible or horses, and Samuel for the Great Prophet of the Old Testament.

Last names were frequently given based on a skill or trade, as with Goldsmith, Tanner, or Taylor, but also based on family or tradition.

Maternity is certain because we know who gave birth to the child. But, Paternity can be questioned.

You have a moral and legal obligation to give your child your name. A Birth Certificate leads to Citizenship.

Your name is a blessing or curse based on your integrity and honor. Your behavior indicates the respect that you have for your own name.
