I’ve spent a lot of time in my life thinking about the voice of Dad that I was missing growing up.
It caused me to listen to the wrong men. Men who were lacking in their own ways. Some were missing levels of empathy, others were missing self-confidence, and still others their own direction.
It took me years of learning God’s voice in my life and I don’t pretend to always know it. But, it’s not the big booming voice of Yul Brynner’s and Charlton Heston’s movie the 10 Commandments.
A Dad’s voice needs to have the full range from soft to very robust and hard. Dad’s can’t be wussies in this world. Men need to stand up and make their voices heard.
That also means they need to work on how they express that voice with their wife and kids.
