· Gratitude: Grateful People…

o Are born…again (Ephesians 5:18, 20)

§ The Holy Spirit is the difference between religious gratitude and the gratitude Jesus commends.

§ Grateful people are grateful for all things.

o Understand the depth of God’s grace

§ Easy to overestimate my effort and underestimate God’s grace.

§ It’s hard to be grateful when I’m relying on myself.

o Train to be grateful (1 Corinthians 9:24-27)

§ Regularly remember the good

§ Read, reflect and apply the Bible

§ Express thanks from my heart (Colossians 2:6-7)

§ Worship God (Psalm 100:4)

o Guards my soul

o Protects against complaining (Philippians 2:14)

o Spend 15 minutes slowly thanking God for five things (what and why)

o Fast from complaining (“penalize” myself for each complaint…have fun)
