Yo...shout out to my MSL Space Station Oddity co-short Stephanie who is running in the Boston Marathon this weekend.
To quote KRS-One: “I'm not the run of mill, cause for the mill I don't run.” Indeed.
My friend Henry VanderSpek aka Culture Snap Photography ran the New York City Marathon a few years back (yeah…I dunno how I have these people in my life either.). He and I recently went to Montreal and you can enjoy some of the distinct photography from one of his classic street photography themes: bicycles!
As for the attached audio Stephanie and I get into Being James Bond, a 45 minute documentary special that was available on Apple TV+ from September 7 through October 7 and is currently on Crave in Canada from September 24 until October 24.
Basically Daniel Craig candidly reflects on his fifteen year tenure as James Bond. Includes never-before-seen archival footage spanning from Casino Royale (2006) to No Time To Die (2021).
Next Tuesday at 4pm on Twitter Spaces Stephanie and I will get into No Time To Die which I disliked immensely and she enjoyed immensely. So lots of emotions.
And in keeping with the “running theme” I don’t run but I do race through books. I’m currently deep into Seat 7A, a German psychological thriller. That’s apparently a genre. I’ve never read a German novel (it’s in English “Danke Schoen”) so that helps.
Sebastian Fitzek’s novel is about “psychiatrist Mats Krüger who knows that his irrational fear of flying is just that – irrational. He knows that flying is nineteen times safer than driving. But shortly after take-off, Mats receives a worrying phone call. The caller has kidnapped his daughter and will murder her – and her unborn child – unless Mats convinces the pilot to crash the plane, killing everyone on board.” Oh Yes.
His kidnapped daughter has now gone into labour and Mats is still on the plane scrambling to explore his options and none of the airline staff or passengers know about the threat. This sucker is heating up!
That’s not the only thing I’ve been reading this week.
I checked out…Nadia Wassef Reflects on Owning the First Modern Egyptian Bookstore of its Kind…oh really.

I'm wildly uncomfortable with this news.
Sue Grafton was (RIP) an outstanding mystery writer: the Kinsey Millhone Alphabet Book Series is highly recommended,
I don't believe this TV Adaptation is necessary.
Plus it's the whole "not what she wanted" thing that bugs me. Sure had Sue lived longer she may have changed her mind or maybe she had conversations at the end where she was thinking about it but her public record was always no no no to adapting her novels for TV/Movies.
I've no reason to hope it will be good.
Yeah No: I Don't Like This.
However more streamers means we need more IP. So...here we are.

A Thomas Chatterton Williams interview who wisely says: “I never thought ideas were about signalling allegiance.” Well…yeah! That’s common knowledge isn’t it?

Here’s a smooth robot dancing…at half-time of a college football game. We're all so doomed with the upcoming robot revolution but this is ridiculously tight. #Fresh
They solved the ED-209 stairs issue! Check out the dexterity on this robot. The butt groove is super impressive.
(Bonus Fun: The War of the Worlds robots are provided by Boston Dynamics...this is a different robotic company. Still Season 2 of the modern adaptation of H.G. Wells sci-fi novel dropped on CBC Gem on October 6: #SetTheVCR.)
