Jesus gives meaning to life in many ways. I think one of the most awesome thoughts in the whole Bible is when God says to the prophet Jeremiah, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart” (Jeremiah 1:5).

I must have been eighteen or nineteen years old the first time I read this verse. I remember marveling, This is amazing! Before my father and mother even thought about having a baby, God knew all about Luis Palau. And He knew all about you, too.

God has known you since the beginning of the world. He knew the color of your eyes before you were even conceived. He knew the name your parents would give you. God knew what kind of ears you would have, what kind of nose you’d get, where you would be born. Even now, God knows every last thing about you.

God has a purpose and plan for your life. Jesus tells us, “I knew you fully, even before you were an embryo in your mother’s womb. And I have a purpose for you to fulfill, tailored to your unique personality, background and characteristics.” What an amazing thing, to be known by God and given purpose by Him! Let’s fulfill our God-given purpose by telling others about the purpose and plan God has for them.
