Last weekend I spent eight hours sitting on metal bleachers at a volleyball tournament watching my daughter’s team play. Three matches, multiple rotations… and my daughter barely stepped onto the court.
As a parent, it was frustrating. As someone who works with young girls on confidence and resilience, it was also deeply revealing.
In this episode of Lens Reflections with Edna, I explore what it means to be left out, the emotions it triggers, and the powerful role our interpretations play in shaping identity. Through the lens of what I call Identity Architecture, I share how the same moment can either shrink us or strengthen us depending on the story we build around it.
More importantly, I introduce a simple way to reset the lens when those moments happen, especially for young people who are still forming their sense of self.
This episode is for parents, educators, coaches, and anyone who has ever felt overlooked and wants to learn how to interpret those moments in a way that builds resilience instead of self-doubt.
