In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus reminds us that those who are merciful are blessed for they shall receive mercy. But mercy is not our natural response when offended or wronged, is it? We desire to see evil-doers punished and justice done! God satisfied His justice against sin on the cross when His Son Jesus offered up Himself as a sacrifice for sinners. As a result, we can walk in forgiveness and, as those who have been shown mercy, offer mercy to others.
