Being Nice Rodriguez

Listen Later

Nice Rodriguez emigrated to Canada, in the 80s where her last job was as a production artist for a daily. There in 1993, she wrote the groundbreaking lesbian-themed book, ‘Throw it to the River”. The first by a Filipina anywhere. In this episode, Nice shares how she found deliverance from long hair when it got caught in an electric fan. How she hid her identity (and “pers lab”)for 30 years only to realize that every one knew back then. Making life changing decisions to be able to wear pants. Being a man in the core but also a butch/tomboy based on her meter. Taking stock of being a dyke, of aging, her pandemic experiences, fears and courage, finding peace, and serving others.
