On this Sunday, the healing of blindness is a primary topic. However, Fr. Micah doesn’t speak on blindness or seeing, but rather on being seen by the Lord.
In today’s Gospel reading, Christ gave two blind men their sight, a great miracle. However, a great wonder, too, is that the Lord saw them. The one who created the universe sees us, and he loves us — in our pain, struggles, hopes, joys, and despair. He sees our sin, and he loves us. He sees the ones we love, and he sees the ones we hate, and he gave his life for us all.
Fr. Micah encourages us to remember that our Lord sees us at every moment. The Prophet Elias repeatedly says, “The Lord lives, before whom I stand.” Fr. Micah encourages us to live with this mindset, rejoicing in our Lord seeing us and living accordingly.
