In the midst of our Oscar reviews for best picture, we often find candidates that spark different interests in our perspective of film. One would say a film is boring, where another would see it as a spectacle in terms of themes, and messaging. I think Belfast, directed by Kenneth Branah, is a good example of the first film in the best picture category, that really created different opinions amongst the Black Room Reviews crew. Some of us loved it, some of us thought it was a bore, and others could see it’s importance and why it was selected in best picture; even though it didn’t pique their interest
