When we surrender our lives to Jesus, there is an immediate development of Biblical faith. Salvation is the transfer from the kingdom of darkness, to the Kingdom of God, where Jesus becomes Lord. In that surrender, we no longer live as we chose, following selfish desires, and worldly pursuits. Instead, we learn to transfer the care and substance of our lives to Him, refusing to take things into our own hands. Dependency is the place of belief where we trust God above all.
