As an author you need to learn to back yourself up. You need to be your own greatest fan because there are not too many of those around. 

If you don't believe in what you are creating then that is when you are more prone to the negative feedback you will receive. 

And you need to be able to critic yourself in a healthy way because there is a right and wrong way to do. One can leave you deflated and one can propel you to achieve more.
