Truth is not contingent upon us believing it. Truth is truth. Truth is to be based on facts, not feelings. 

I hear the expression, "That's their truth." It may be their belief, but it belongs to the event, not the person. 

Truth has to be foundational, not experiential. So, know the facts, not the feelings. Do your own research if you were not an eyewitness.
