When I was in my 20’s I worked out at the Northwestern University gym… a lot of athletes worked out there and a few of the Bears players… including Jim McMahon.

One day I asked a guy if he was a student at the School and he said no I just work out here.. wow how do you get to work out here… he said kind of nonchalantly “im a professional baseball player”.

 

 

Wake the faith up…

 

yes he was a professional baseball player… but it wasn’t as spectacular as I had thought. I found out he was playing for a farm team in Double AA ball… so yeah he was but he wasn’t.

Words That Are Their Own Opposites

A contronym is a word that is its own antonym.Sound unusual?

You probably use contronyms every day…

HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES.

Oversight can mean both"watchful supervision"and"an inadvertent omission."

Left means both"departed"and"remaining."

Dust can mean"to add dust"(to crops)or"to remove dust"(from furniture).

Cleave means either"to cling/adhere"or"to split/sever."

Off means both"deactivated"(turn that off)and

"activated"(the alarm went off).

 

Here is a contronym for you… 

Christian man…

It can mean a nice guy who is religious but powerless

Or it can mean

A man who knows God and walks in his power.

 

Has anyone ever asked you “are you a believer”.  Well what does that mean. 

Are YOU a believer?

 

James 2:19 You say you are a believer… great, even the demons are believers.

 

So what is a believer?

I am a Believer…. but I act on my belief.
