Believing in Your Path. Your Way. Your Style.

Listen Later

I can easily think I should be different. Be better than I am.

Easy to believe:

  • That because someone else is really good at studying, researching, and knowing all about a subject, that I should be able to do the same.
  • That because someone else does all kinds of service, that I should do more service.
  • That because someone is totally devoted to their path and off on a mountaintop, that I should be that devoted.
  • That because I make it up and do things my own way, that everyone should do it my way.

There is great relief (for me) in knowing that I have my style and others have their style.  Instead of floating out in the world without a model of how I be in the world, having a frame provides a place for me to land and make sense of my world.

When I have a frame and am able to make sense of my world, then instead of falling into my old habit of feeling bad about myself, I am able to see/hold/love myself simply, beautifully as different, instead of broken.

Here are 4 pathways to the soul as we swim towards the divine. Towards the Beyond.  This model is from the Hindu tradition.

Jana - Study. Know and learn. And dive into the sacred.

Karma - service. Constant work offering. Always served something

“Only feel stupid in America”. In other place they would acknowledge and see you. Not valued. Being yourself and serving.

Backthi- devotion. Adoration.  Bow to anything that moves. See the divine in you right now. Wants to be in the devotion.

If you don’t get a taste of the ecstatic you fall into depression and shittiness.

Raji - experimental life. No dogma. No teacher. Moving towards. Make it up as you go.  Make it up yourself. Self experiment. How the longing in my soul is moving towards the sacred. Listening to self.
