I visited Tung during my road trip down to Pinehurst and we played Belmont CC together and recorded an in-person podcast! Belmont CC is a very interesting place. It was originally Hermitage CC and hosted the 1949 PGA Championship. Over the years it became a public course and deteriorated. In the last few years, Davis Love III redesigned the course for the First Tee. The 18 hole course is now a 12 hole course with a 6 hole short course. They also added a massive putting green. It's an excellent vision of what public golf can be in the future.Tung and I discuss our thoughts on the course after playing 30 holes there a couple weeks ago. Tung gives some more history behind how this rendition of Belmont CC came to be.
