Dawn services were held across the Gold Coast on Anzac Day, with large crowds gathering at Surfers Paradise and Currumbin despite rainy conditions. Victoria Cross recipient Ben Roberts-Smith attended the Currumbin service with his father, where he was approached by supporters and briefly spoke to media, emphasising the day was about honouring all veterans past and present. The Surfers Paradise RSL service featured an RAAF flyover at dawn along the Esplanade.
