The Brooklyn Nets are back in action with their first game of the preseason against the Lakers. The biggest story was the health of Ben Simmons who looked fully recovered from the back injury that plagued him last season. He looked like the player the Nets traded James Harden for two years ago. It was a welcome sign of things to come for Simmons.

And then there was the surprise that Cam Thomas would join the starting lineup in the place of the injured Cam Johnson. For a group of fans who have long been wondering about Thomas’s status with the team, this went far to show that he is locked into an early rotation spot to start the season.
