18-year old Jess wants to play soccer, but her Indian family would rather she stay home and focus more on her culture. She meets Jules, a member of a local women's soccer team, and joins the team behind her parent's backs. This is the basic plot of the 2002 dramedy Bend It Like Beckham, which was a surprise hit, and launched the career of Keira Knightley.
