Introducing Nicole Pates, experienced paediatric physiotherapist who runs her own medical clinic around chronic paediatric developmental and rheumatological problems. Today we are discussing the effects of hypermobility in children. What are the causes? Do children with hypermobility need treatment?

Joint Hypermobility means children are able to move their joints beyond normal limits. There are a few tests a GP or physiotherapist might perform to figure this out. It does not always restrict activity, in fact, many famous gymnasts, musicians and circus performers have been able to achieve fame

due to their flexibility.
