This latest session was inspired by the hard and deep techno sounds of Berlin and the interesting new genre Leftfield House that is abstract in both sound and form. Most people can't pin down the specific qualities that define Leftfield House or how it differs from other forms of house and techno but what particularly caught my ear is how experimental it sounds. It's almost extra-terrestrial. The beat doesn't always follow the familiar 4/4 rhythmic structure and new sounds can drop into the track at any point. It provides for a lot of interesting sounds and texture. Monotony and repetition is certainly avoided. Late. Dark. Nights. Vol.22 features tracks from such producers as Amelie Lens, Joel Mull, Keith Carnal, Mark Reeve, Dubfire, Miss Kittin, Dustin Zahn, Pig&Dan, Adam Beyer, 2pole, Thomas Schumacher, Cleric, Kevin de Vries, and Charlotte de Witte. House music is multi-faceted with many different sub-genres and varying sounds. From deep house to ambient house to the more progressive style of house music, House Is...Vol.5 was inspired by such artists as Behrouz, Bedouin, and Lee Burridge. As you listen to this mix you'll definitely hear their influence on the track selection and the journey I hoped to create. My hope was that this mix would sound right at home at All Day I Dream, Burning Man, or any open air or festival but true to my own style and taste. This is the music that's been most capturing my attention as of late and I hope it will capture your attention too.
